Easter was celebrated with a special dinner on the Tuesday before the Easter weekend. Many were going home for Easter, hence the early celebration. All residents were invited, even those living in the self-catering accommodation. We had braaied meat and sausage, toasted cheese sandwiches and delicious salads.
The tables were decorated with handmade, wooden crosses and bunnies.
For dessert we set up a chocolate fountain and served marshmallows and fruit for the ladies to dip into the hot, liquid chocolate. What a treat and what fun!
Our life coach joined us for the evening and had a time of discussion with some of the ladies in the time between the main meal and dessert.
At Easter Sunday breakfast the ladies were spoilt with hot cross buns and Easter eggs!
For Easter Sunday lunch we had the traditional roast lunch and dessert. The tables were once again decorated with handmade wooden crosses and bunnies and cross bookmarks and marshmallow Easter eggs were available for all who were at the lunch.
To try and spread the true message of Easter we slowly brought scripture to the attention of the residents, day by day, for the week leading up to Easter Sunday. The final message was “Jesus is Alive”.
